Gorgeous, vintage artwork from Mexico.
For centuries the Otomi of the area of Sierra Norte, Mexico have been known for colorful fanciful embroidery (tenangos) and the Nuju of the same region for their unique paper fiber (papel amate) art. This handmade art is made with bark of the Jonote tree using ancient paper making techniques. Each piece is handmade with no two pieces exactly the same.
This pair of hangings feature a beautifully colored bird and donkey.
Ready to hang or frame.
Backs show some tearing where the frame was removed, but does not affect the appearance of the artwork.
Each is 16x16 inches.
