Whilst using traditional folk art techniques combined with European and Asian methods, his unique designs and vision inspired many artisans. His work has won many awards and international recognition and is collected worldwide.
The tactile quality of Tonala their whimsical animal figurines with the swirls and flowers painted on them is so is very well done. One is signed cat Tonala Mexico and numbered 323.   All show signs of wear from age.
