Description
A hard to find and beautiful miniature retablo of Saint Raymond Nonatus. The saints face is nicely painted with a very serene look about him. There is a padlock holding his lips together. It is said that the Moors bored a hole through his lips with a hot iron and padlocked his mouth to prevent him from preaching. He is invoked against gossip, the temptation to gossip and in help keeping secrets. He is wearing a cardinal’s red mozzetta and holds a monstrance and a martyr’s palm branch. Please take a close look at the photos. While there is very little paint loss there is a small dark area behind his head.
